Cindy Hestle: Painting
I’m a self-taught decorative painter and has been painting "professionally" for 5 years, although I’ve done some sort of artwork most of my life. I use water based acrylic paints and paint on many surfaces, such as rocks, wood, leaves, glass and sometimes canvas!
Classes - Thursday, Friday, Saturday
At this class we'll be painting on slate rocks and I'll have several patterns to choose from, such as flowers with hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, etc. or beach scenes with lighthouses.
Class size is limited to 12. The fee is $20 per student, all supplies are furnished. -
Jeff Mohr: Broomtying
In 1976 Jeff started to study the craft of broom tying with a Carolina craftsman. After mastering the basic skills, he began participating in various arts and crafts shows.Through these shows, Jeff had the opportunity of tying brooms to other blacksmith's handles. In 1981 Jeff picked up a hammer, Blacksmiths and broom makers benefited from this move. Jeff and Brooke will be teaching.

Michelle Latch: Chainmail Jewelry
Michelle is a multi-talented artist who has been working with chainmail for 3 years. She has taught many arts and crafts over the years at various blacksmith meetings. Many of you watched her grow up at those meetings. You might remember her being only "this big!" Michelle is currently in her last semester at Michigan Technological University and will be graduating this year with her Ph.D in Forest Science.
Synopsis
Please bring appropriate magnifiers for your eyesight. We will be working with very small pieces. Also bring your own needle nose pliers if you have them (rubber-tipped are best but not necessary).
Classes - Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Thursday and Saturday classes: Byzantine Weave. This beginning-level chain weave is beautiful and can give a platform for further exploration once you learn the basic pattern. Students will have the option of creating earrings or a bracelet.
Each kit $10. Class size 12 students.
Friday classes: 4-in-1 Weave. This is a more traditional weave that can be used to create pieces of chainmail cloth. We will be making a small piece of the European version, but once the basics are mastered, learning the traditional chainmail armor weaves will be a cinch!

Peggy Patrick
Peggy is a traditional artist offering classes in events throughout the S.E. . Among different skills shared are beaded leather work, White oak and River cane basketry and shoemaking. Peggy and her husband and partner Chuck ( a well known blacksmith/knife maker) are also musicians loving old time music of all generations.

Deck knife sheath
Design and make a period neck knife sheath (6 “ max) using rawhide and brainton. Learn to make cordage to use for straps. Will cover brainton production and rawhide, as well as learn about using twisting fringe and other dangerous knowledge.

Beaded Leather
Learn to stitch small seed beads to lesther using a technique that leaves no thread showing anywhere. Lazy stitch and appliqué beading will be covered as well as edging. Topics discussed will beNative American beadwork, history of beads and contemperary beadwork.
